Carotid Duplex
Carotid duplex ultrasound scanning is a scan to detect plaque in the arteries that supply blood to the brain. Narrowing of these arteries can lead to strokes or TIAs and plaque may be an underlying cause of the arteries narrowing. These scans are also performed for follow-up after surgery or carotid artery stenting.
A carotid duplex ultrasound scan will take approximately 15 minutes.
